Trailer: It's a Book! by Lane Smith
Ok, I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on this book. It's super-cute and clever! But, perhaps, too clever! Let's just say, the final line is "It's a book, jackass." Watch the trailer, and let me know what you think. It's a Book

Candy Apple Series Feature
The Candy Apple series is a popular series of which, I'll admit, I've never read a single title. I'm ashamed to admit that up until very recently, I knew next to nothing about it, other than the fact that it circulated well and is, as every children's librarian knows, easy to spot on the shelves, due to the BRIGHT PINK COVERS! Now, thanks to Kidsreads recent feature, I can at least say that I am acquainted with the The Candy Apple series. Thanks Kidsreads! Candy Apple Series Feature

Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy's new StoryBlocks project
I just read about this in the Library Youth Services Newsletter from Janet Ingram Dwyer. (If you're not on the State Library Youth Services mailing list, I highly recommend signing up for it! Janet does a most fantastic job making everyone aware of what's going on in the wide world of youth services! Thanks Janet!!!)
Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy's new StoryBlocks project Storyblocks.org is a collection of 1-minute videos demonstrating rhymes and songs along with early literacy tips. Filmed in partnership with Rocky Mountain PBS, librarians throughout Colorado share successful activities as well as literacy tips. Through the videos, parents, child care providers and others will discover ways to engage very young children in fun and playful interactions that also build healthy brain development.
StoryBlocks was made possible by an IMLS grant to Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy. There are just 16 videos in the collection so far but CLEL is pursuing funding to create more. If you visit the site, view and use the videos, please fill out a feedback form, which will help Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy complete their evaluation for the LSTA report.
